Actually, do not add up. Perhaps Bush and Congress really believed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. My conclusion about Bush now is: Have you thought Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, a threat to national security. Moreover, Saddam was a cruel tyrant and had to go. Upon discovery of WMD were not in Iraq, Bush tried to do what he thought was best: try Saddam, stabilize and democratize the country, offer good deals for U.S. companies, and establish bases U.S. in Iraq so that Iran would not be a threat.
If this was a war for oil that would have gone to Venezuela. It is an enemy closer and easier to defeat.
